- Wegovy pens: fridge, 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C).
- Single-dose pen out of the fridge: up to 28 days between 46°F and 86°F, in the original carton.
- FlexTouch pen: follow the leaflet in its carton.
- Wegovy pills: no fridge. Room temperature, dry, original bottle, lid tight.
- Never freeze a Wegovy pen. Throw it away if it froze.
Wegovy pens: in the fridge
Store Wegovy pens in the refrigerator between 36°F and 46°F (2°C to 8°C).[1] Keep the pen in its original carton to protect it from light, and do not freeze it.[1]
Wegovy injections come in more than one format: single-dose pens and a multi-dose Wegovy FlexTouch pen, as well as tablets.[3] Check which one you have, because the rules are not the same.
How long a Wegovy pen can be out of the fridge
If needed, the single-dose pen can be kept between 46°F and 86°F (8°C to 30°C) in its original carton for up to 28 days.[1]
- Write the date it came out of the fridge on the carton, so you know when day 28 falls.
- 86°F is a ceiling. A hot car or a sunny windowsill can go well above it.
Wegovy FlexTouch pen
The FlexTouch pen holds four doses, so its rules differ from the single-dose pen's. Follow the Instructions for Use that come in its carton, and ask your pharmacist if anything is unclear.
Wegovy pills: no fridge needed
Wegovy pills do not go in the fridge. Store them at room temperature (68°F to 77°F) in a dry place, in the original bottle, with the lid tightly closed.[2] A steamy bathroom cabinet is not a dry place.
Frozen, hot or unsure
- Frozen: do not use it. Throw the pen away.[1]
- Above 86°F, or past 28 days out: Novo Nordisk gives no exception. Ask your pharmacist before you use it.
- Traveling: carry pens with you rather than in checked luggage, in their carton, out of direct sun.
