Missed a dose of Zepbound? What to do

Zepbound has a 4-day window for a late dose. Inside it, take the dose. Outside it, skip and go back to your usual day. Here is the rule from the label, with examples.

Key points
  • Within 4 days (96 hours) of the missed dose: take it as soon as possible.
  • More than 4 days: skip it and take the next dose on your regular day.
  • Never double up to catch up.
  • Missed more than one dose? Check with your prescriber before your next injection.
  • Changing your day? Leave at least 3 days between two doses.
Before you read onThis is the general rule printed on the label. If you feel unwell or are unsure which dose to take, check with your prescriber or pharmacist before injecting.

The 4-day rule

The Zepbound prescribing information says: take the missed dose as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) after the missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next dose on your regularly scheduled day. You can then carry on with your regular once-weekly schedule.[1]

Missed more than one dose

The label's rule covers a single missed dose. If you have missed two or more weeks, do not just restart at your usual dose without checking. Contact your prescriber before your next injection.

Changing your injection day

If another day suits you better, the label allows a change as long as there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between two doses.[1] Zepbound can be taken at any time of day, with or without meals.[1]

A weekly phone reminder helps. The free logbook can add one to your calendar in a tap.

Common questions

What happens if I take Zepbound a day late?

A day late is inside the window. The prescribing information says to take a missed dose as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) of the missed dose, then take your next dose on your regular day.

What if I miss a whole week of Zepbound?

If more than 4 days have passed since the missed dose, the label says to skip it and take your next dose on your regularly scheduled day. Do not take two doses to catch up.

I missed 2 weeks of Zepbound. What should I do?

The Zepbound label only gives the rule for a single missed dose. If you have missed more than one dose, check with your prescriber before your next injection.

Can I take Zepbound two days in a row to catch up?

No. The label never tells you to double up. Once the 4-day window has passed, skip the missed dose and carry on with your regular day.

Can I change my Zepbound injection day?

Yes. The label says the day of weekly administration can be changed as long as there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between two doses.
